Inspired by Elizabeth Allan

I was inspired by Elizabeth Allan's blog this week to color a card with Tim Holtz distress inks. I have used this technique before, but her added element of using glossy paper intrigued me. On the card pictured above, I spritzed TH Faded Jeans on white cardstock (2 drops of reinker ink in a mini mister filled with water).
I then used Kodak high gloss photo paper and stamped it with Momento ink.
Now the fun part....coloring!
Using the Faded Blue ink pad and a water brush, I started coloring and I LOVE the glossy paper. The brush strokes were SOOOOO much smoother. As I wanted a darker center to the flower, I just dabbed a drop from the reinker on my craft mat and picked up my color from there. Wild Honey and Marigold were used for the flower center.
NOTE:  The flower in the top left was colored on Glossy paper, (you can see where the camera caught the shine on top flower) and the flower on the bottom right was colored on 110lb cardstock.
What a difference in the vibrancy of the colors!!!!!
Fussy cut, add dimension by using foam adhesive, emboss sentiment with Lapis embossing powder, and attach to card base. A little blue cord and some blue Liquid Pearls. Done.

Thanks Elizabeth for all you do...what a great mentor you are!

Craft Room Pics

I was very intrigued by the Craft Room tour over at Jill Foster's blog and though maybe not unique, I wanted to share with you what my wonderful husband made for me.
In the picture above, you see four small paint cans zip tied to a towel bar. I am at the starting line with Copic markers, but I thought this was a great way to separate them by color families and keep them right above my work surface. As I add markers, it will be easy to attach another towel bar with cans just above this one.

This wooden shelf is made of 1/2" x 2" boards and gave me lots of space for my rubber stamps. (as you can see I have filled this one up, so I am hoping to sweet talk him into another one).
This is attached to the wall behind the door, so when the door is open, you don't even see it.

Thanks for peeking and I hope you are inspired to organize the favorite room in your home!

Inspired by Kristina Werner

As you all know, I love Penny Black stamps and pretty much that is all I have in my art studio. However, I love to watch Kristina Werner's videos for ideas and inspiration. This month she is shooting a video everyday for the "Holiday Card Series 2011" and she has a cutting file for sale on her blog here.
Well of course I had to have it and above you will see the card I was inspired to make.

Operation Christmas Card

Hi friends,    The weeks are flying by and I had set a goal of 50 cards for the Operation Christmas Cards. I am nearing that mark but still have to write a note and sign each one. YIKES!!!!  I am running out of time.
I hope you have read about this program and I hope you will participate also. I guess most people visiting this blog are artists in their own right, but feel free to scroll down and through the past couple of months of archives for inspiration in making your own holiday cards to send the soldiers overseas.
Hope you have a wonderful and crafty week.
