Cards for Operation Write Home

Wanted to share a couple of cards I made for Operation Write Home. The Hero card is for a soldier away from home on Memorial Day and the Mother Card is for a soldier to personalize and send home to his/her mother. This is a great organization. I sent them cards at Christmas time also.

Get involved (come on I know you have a ton of cards you have made just sitting in a box somewhere).

The sentiment for Hero card can be found here.

The sentiment for Mother is free here.

Happy Birthday

Hi friends…hope you are doing well. Kinda crazy around here as we are selling our house and have two offers (you wouldn’t think that was a problem), but it is very stressful. Looking forward to moving and not having to run upstairs to my creative room.

Do you love to fussy cut? There is just something about it that reminds me of playing with paper dolls when I was a kid…and when you add in coloring, maybe I am in my second childhood. Who knew?!?

GCD Design Team Card

I made the above card for the GCD Studios design team application.
I love this twisted easel card, so you can be sure to see a few more on this blog in the future.

This card is a 5" square and folds flat for mailing.

To make the card you will want to use a very heavy card stock as your base. Cut the base 10" x 5", fold in half. Now score and fold one of the halves diagonally. Your base is finished...how easy was that???

To decorate top of card I used Chocolate brown card stock cut at 5" x 5". I then cut a piece of patterned paper just a bit smaller, distress ink on edges, attach to brown card stock. I also attached a small border to one side and stamped and  heat embossed the sentiment in two different colors, then add a bow. Now attach this to the outside fold of the base card.
Is it starting to come to life?

Now decorate the inside of the card...again I cut the brown card stock just a bit smaller than 5" square, and cut your patterned paper just a bit smaller than the brown card stock. Attach to inside card base. I also attached a border on one edge. The "compass" acts as an embellishment and a stopper for the card top so it can "stand/sit" on a table.
I die cut the "compass", and distressed the edges, added a matching button and attached to the inside of the card with foam adhesive.
It sounds difficult but it is not...get your supplies together and you will have a work of art in no time.

Remember:  A square card takes more postage and the more pretties you put on the card, the more postage you will need. :)

Let's go Shopping:
