Operation Write Home–Washi Tape #8

owh washi tape

I’m Baaaaaaacccckkkkkk.

For the Washi Tape challenge at Operation Write Home. I am also entering this card in the Focal Point Homework. I think the focal point is the Flowers and Leaves section of the card.
My son however thought it was the sentiment.

I am hoping you will leave me a comment, and let me know your thoughts.

Made the card with Heavy weight white card stock (Gina K Designs). Added Filmstrip Washi Tape (Queen & Co.). Die cut Leaf Flourish (Cheery Lynn Designs) and added Black Roses (Michaels). The sentiment (Dazzle – Pink by Design) was stamped with Versafine Black Ink and heat embossed with Clear powder.

Thanks for stamping by…..

My eye was drawn to the dramatic flower and swirl at the top left. Beautiful card.

How great that you asked your son and interesting too that you and he didn't agree. I have to say that while my eye was first drawn to the upper left corner floral BUT you created a relationship by the way the leaves extend down and virtually point the viewer right to the sentiment which is great. (Good design actually controls your viewer, they just don't necessarily know it's intentional :) I suspect you will get a 50/50 split on the 'what's the focal point' question. if you wanted to completely control it you could do one of things: (1) add a bit of white to the flowers (maybe a white accent along some of the petal edges) (2) stamp the sentiment in a color... though admittedly that does change the black & white color scheme which you might want to preserve. Thanks for sharing this with everyone. I will be interested to see what other see first.

Interesting concept. My eye was drawn to the black lines where the light is brightest, then to the flowers and finally the sentiment.

I love the filmstrip washi tape. The black and white make this such an elegant card. I have to say my eyes went to the flowers first and then to the sentiment. I also think it might be a left-to-right thing for me. Thanks for playing along with my washi tape challenge. Good luck in the drawing!
