Country Layout

Howdy friends....I do not make scrapbooking layouts, I make cards!!! So, you are thinking this is a layout...OK, it is. I needed to make one for a project request. I had to come up with a layout with the focus not being my grandson, but die cuts.
In the layout above I used Die-Versions Farm Animal Border at the bottom. Die cut twice and flipped one so the cows faced each other. The doily is a page from a dictionary die cut with Heart Burst. (LOVE how that turned out). Howdy greeting is an Edge die, then used a stamp just below it for the greeting.
Flower is a die cut from Spellbinders. Wet the card stock, crumple, dry with a heat gun, then build the flower. Zig Zag by Spellbinders also.
Rope frame is a die cut from the Silhouette Store re-sized to fit the picture of my cute little grandson riding my wooden rocking horse. (It was his dads, so I guess you could call it an antique). The tickets are also cut and print with a Silhouette Cameo.
Journal page is from Authentique and edge punched. Buttons are punched also.
Faux stitching with a white gel pen and add twine for a more country look.

Happy Birthday Video

Hey friends...Oh what a day!!!
I decided that I would make a video on how to assemble a greeting card and post it on this blog. I started at about noon today and I am just finishing up at about 5:30 pm. While shooting the video, my husband walked by and patted my butt (I started laughing so I had to stop the camera, compose myself and start again). Then my son walks by and asks if I need my garbage taken out (hello....he can see it's full...again started laughing and had to stop the camera).
Needless to say, I was not going to narrate the whole video over again, so you got music instead.
Uploading to Blogger was a nightmare, but with a lot of help from YouTube, I figured it out.
So...I met my challenge today...make and post a video. Yay for me!!!

I have entered this card into the Sketch Challenge 170 at OWH
&
A card for Family at Penny Black

I hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave ideas on how to speed up the process of making a card for a seven minute video (I figure after that amount of time, I have a sleeping audience).

Hello Howdy Hi

Hey friends....This card looks a little "Springy" to me and it is about 93 degrees outside...we are really having a hot April. Hope your summer has not started already.

I used two Express Edges from Die-Versions on this card (Hello & Howdy). Stamped background is Penny Black (Paisley Outline) and the stamped hexagon is from Hero Arts (Clear Hexagons).

Hope you are having a crafty weekend

Embellishing saved the day....

Before pic...Card fell off shelf and landed on the edge of an ink pad.....not a happy camper!!!

After pic...had to add 3 tiny roses at top to cover ink mess...then changed the 3 larger roses to match.

Embellishing saved the day. Tomorrow is the wedding and the card I had made for the lucky couple was sitting on a shelf above my desk. It fell off and landed on an open ink pad. I said a few bad words.

The original post and shopping list is here.

Made some tiny roses to cover up the mistake, and liked them so well I remade the 3 larger roses in yellow also. (The brides colors are yellow and light pink). I like the remade card better.

Moral of the story... embellishing can save the day....sometimes!

Favorite of the week at Split Coast Stampers

Hello my crafty friends....today I have a card for the OWH theme...TIME ..
No clock stamps, but I did have this sentiment with the word TIME in it...so I am going with that.
This card was super easy to make and you could actually make a set very quickly and just change the sentiment.
Flowers stamped with Versafine Black and heat set with clear embossing powder, then colored with Copic markers.
Sentiment was done the same way.
Base card is inked at one end and both top and bottom. Use foam adhesive to adhere together.

Flowers in a jar

Hey friends....Playing along at OWH with their sketch challenge

I love the dictionary circle...went to the local thrift store, bought a dictionary for 50 cents and I will have lots of pages to use for backgrounds, embellishments, etc.
The mason jar was colored and fussy cut, then a layer of vellum was placed over it. The stems look like they are actually in the jar...LOVE!!!
Everything was cut with the Silhouette.
Penny Black Blooming Garden flowers were stamped and colored with Copics.

Happy Birthday Linda

Hi friends...did you have the best weekend ever???  I did....played with the cutest, sweetest little boys that ever walked the face of this Earth. (Grandsons...just sayin')

My really good friend is having a milestone birthday today and this is the card I sent her. She is probably going to be REEL-Y mad that I put that large number on the front of the card...too bad!!
Are you loving those beachy colors of card stock?       Michaels...$2.00...love it!!!
Flower was made by punching a scalloped circle several times, spritz with water, wad up, unwad, push brad through centers, push each layer to "wrap" around brad, let dry. Now pull the layers apart a little. FUN !!!

Happy Birthday Linda (no last name to protect the innocent).

My Studio

Hello friends...happy Saturday. I am at the cottage this weekend, and my grandbabies are napping, so I thought I would post some pictures of my Craft Studio. I love being in this room full of goodness.
We added a couple of things to the room last night so I took the time to clean it (I am organized but the room doesn't usually look this straight).
I love the large "P" sign my friend Cathy gave me for my birthday. DH made a couple of holes, put Holiday lights inside and now it lights up. (LOVE)!!!

As you can see, I just used drawers and shelving you get at Micheal's (only bought when they were 50% off with a 20% coupon on top...which took forever to finish buying).

Love my Copic storage above my desk. Small paint cans attached to a towel bar with zip ties. (Do you see that large space between the Copic storage and the shelf...allowing for room for another Copic Storage..hehehe)
Christmas card made by friend Linda...so adorable, I had to keep it where I could see it all the time.

Above the shelf is a "spring" to a crib. Painted it white and then took small hooks with clips and attached cards, dies, etc. How cute is this? (Thank you Cathy for the idea AND for finding the crib piece)

DH made the stamp holder...

My large paper cutter and Cuttlebug area.

Shelves for special cards, Teal & Brown curtains I made.
(Middle shelf, card on the left...from Elizabeth Allan....cardmaker/artist extraordinaire..love her!!).

My wonderful Wooden Ladder shelf (found this idea in a Paper Crafts Practical Solutions Magazine). LOVE!!!

My Lazy Susan made from cans (same magazine as above). Painted white, then wrapped Designer paper and leftover fabric from curtains. How adorable is this?!?

Hope you are having a crafty weekend...gotta go mess this room up a little.

Hang in There

I'mmm back .....  The challenge at OWH was to stamp a mirror image.
I absolutely love this stamp from Penny Black. (I do believe this was one of my first stamp purchases...and I still use it all the time).
Nancy at OWH did a tutorial on how to do a mirror image stamp. Unfortunately  I do not have any solid/silhouette stamps to make that work. So, I went to Plan B....stamped the image on Acetate, flipped it onto white card stock and prayed. It did not come out too bad...if I must say so.
Cute little mouse on the right is the real stamp.
Colored with Copics and added a digi sentiment from Tiddlyinks.

Wonderful Day

Hey friends...it is almost the weekend and I am taking off a day early for the cottage (YAY).
Playing along with the sketch challenge at Operation Write Home today. Don't you find a card so much easier to put together when you have a sketch to follow?
Loving this card stock pack from Michaels. In fact...for $2.00 on sale, I love all their card stock packs. Colors are coordinated for you, or if you are really brave and color outside the lines, you can mix any color combo you want.
Lined up my colored mats, then stamped and heat embossed flower image. I stamped the image again with only VersaMark ink, just slightly to the right to give it a soft shadow.
Stamped and fussy cut three flowers (oh yes...this card will play along with the ODD Numbers challenge also..woohoo).

Make it a crafty weekend and

Operation Write Home - Bugs Life & Giveaway

Hello my scrappy friends….I am so excited to be a part of the Operation Write Home blog today. Today's Mid Week Throw-down is "It's a Bugs Life"…in other words, use some kind of bug/insect on your card.

Hope you love the Burgundy color on this card...it is all done with OPI Bogota Blackberry nail polish. (who knew...but it is actually great to "paint" with and ends up with a nice glossy finish when dry).

Scor-Tape was applied to back of ribbon and pinched together to ruffle. (Ribbon was from a box of chocolate my sister and I shared in Vail). Sentiment from Stampendous was heat embossed with Rose Quartz embossing powder. Pearl hat pin and burgundy seed pearls were added for the antenna.

Hoping you have a buggie/crafty day and
