a CASE of Laura Bassen

Hidey ho.....

Have you seen the video by Laura Bassen on the Simon Says Stamp blog? Besides her humor and hearing from kids once in a while, she makes fantastic cards and videos worth watching.
So, I just couldn't stand it, I had to give it a try.

While I am not a personal friend of Jennifer McGuire (but I do love her videos !) and don't expect she will be sending any happy mail my way that involves the Glad Press n Seal (like she sent to Laura), I just went ahead and purchased it myself.  :)

It is the key to making this card!!!

I inked up a piece of white cardstock with a rainbow of inks, then stamped and heat embossed with iridescent powder.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the hexies, applied the Press n Seal and
very important...I removed the die cut by bending the cutting mat away very slowly.
Foam adhesive was added to back of each hexie, adhere to white cardstock and peal off the unwanted parts.
Yep...the Press n Seal is a super product for any crafting room!

Challenges Entered:

hellofriend

Hello again....

I usually don't post twice in one day, but I wanted to sneak this little pretty into a couple of challenges at the 11th hour.

When I saw the challenge at The Card Concept was a color combo, my first thought was yuck. Gray, yellow and white? So, I put off making anything...until now.
This may be right up there with my all time favorite color combos.
Who knew?!?
At Winnie & Walter all the cards are gorgeous of course, but the thing I took away today for my card was that everyone one of theirs had an embossed background...so that is what I went with also.

I love how the white and yellow just pop on this gray card.
And speaking of popping... how super cool is that geometric background?!?
Flower and swirl were stamping, heat embossed, then trimmed.
Sentiment is a Winnie and Walter digi welded together.

Challenges Entered:
Winnie & Walter  -  Gossip Column

Amazing Sister

Hello there....

I love how clean and simple this card is. Just a matter of stamping circles with neon inks and a bit of golden glitz to give it a little something, something.

I based my card off this inspiration from Ellen Hutson:

I see lots and lots of circles in a rainbow of colors...but the one that caught my eye was the pillow near the bottom with all of its shiny gold goodness.

Sentiment was stamped with StazOn ink onto vellum.

Challenges Entered:

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day....

This is the card I made for my dad.
He loves to fish and I found this beyond adorable digi stamp at Doodle Pantry.

I colored the images with Copic markers, then colored and fussy cut a second handle (I am sure this has another name, but alas, I am not a fisher person) popping it up with foam adhesive.

I coated the lures with irRESISTible Pico Clear to give them a nice shine.

Retirement & Welcome newbies

Howdy do.....

I have been commissioned to make some cards for a company that sells to police officers/firefighters/emt. Yay me!!!

Today I have a fun retirement card for someone who is completing their tour at the Sheriff's Department.

I originally made the card with a bus cap hanging off the sentiment. After showing it to my police sergeant husband, he informed me the hat was all wrong for that kind of law enforcement ...who knew?!?
So I googled it like any respectable investigator would do, and it turns out he is right...I hate that!

In making the card I die cut the "happy" 3 times, stacked and adhered together, then eBrushed with Copic markers.
Hat was die cut with Silhouette Cameo, colored and coated with Pico Shimmer.

I fashioned my card after this spectacular creation loving the large sentiment
across the middle and the ribbon hanging down.
Challenges Entered:
Winnie & Walter  -  ReRun
